No injury? Your claim is limited. Here's what to watch for.

Not injured, not at fault.

With no injury, there's no compensation claim for you right now. The car side gets sorted behind the scenes as part of your file. But adrenaline masks a lot — if symptoms show up inside 28 days, call us straight away. Had a car accident? Call Accident Hub.

What you need to know

Three things to check

No injury = limited claim. Here's what actually matters right now.

01

The 28-day window

If you develop symptoms (whiplash, concussion, back pain, headaches) inside 28 days, a CTP claim can still be opened and backdated. Call us the moment symptoms appear — don't wait to see if it gets better.

02

Your passengers

Anyone in your car who was hurt — even just sore — has a CTP claim against the at-fault driver's insurer. Pass their number to us and we'll lodge for them. Passenger claims are one of the most commonly missed entitlements.

03

The car side

The at-fault driver's insurer covers repair, replacement, and recovery. We coordinate that behind the scenes as part of your file — not a centrepiece, just handled. Your claim position is the headline.

How it works
Delayed symptoms

The one thing most people miss

Soft-tissue injuries and concussions don't always announce themselves at the scene. Whiplash tends to peak 24 to 72 hours after a crash. Concussion symptoms — headaches, nausea, dizziness, sleep disturbance — can take days. Back pain from a jolted spine can creep in over a week.

Under NSW MAIA 2017, the 28-day window for a CTP claim is critical. Lodge inside it and statutory benefits backdate to the accident. Miss it and some early entitlements are lost.

If anything hurts, feels off, or wasn't there before the crash — call us. Don't tough it out.

Symptoms showing up now? Call urgently — the 28-day clock is tight.

Not sure if your injury counts?

The quiz at /check asks about symptoms, timing, and fault. If there's a claim worth opening, it tells you. If there isn't — yet — it tells you that too, and what to watch for.

FAQ

Common questions

Yes. Adrenaline masks a lot. Whiplash, concussion, soft-tissue strains — they can take 24 to 72 hours to appear. The 28-day window for a CTP claim is tight, and benefits backdate to the accident only if you lodge inside it. If you develop symptoms inside 28 days, call us urgently — we can open a claim retroactively in most cases.
